Dove Head

Rooted in the agricultural character of the surrounding landscape, this new detached building draws inspiration from the traditional barn form — reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Clean lines and considered proportions give the structure a quiet confidence, sitting naturally within its setting while feeling unmistakably of its time. The building brings together a studio, home office, workshop and additional living space under one cohesive form, with sheltered outdoor space that blurs the boundary between inside and out.

A carefully chosen palette of timber, metal cladding and stone gives the building its distinctive character, responding to both the local vernacular and the demands of a contemporary design. Where possible, materials have been sourced locally, reducing transport impact and grounding the project in its place. Natural insulation throughout ensures the building performs as well as it looks, minimising heat loss and creating comfortable, healthy spaces year-round.

Sustainability is woven into every layer of the design. Integrated photovoltaics generate on-site renewable energy, while a commitment to low embodied carbon has shaped every material choice from the outset. The result is a building that treads lightly on its landscape — honest in its materials, efficient in its performance, and designed to endure.
